Prior to this, our team was involved in our first South Yardley Residents meeting. This was held on Saturday 21ST February at Smokey Barrells. There was a good turn out and many had shared their concerns and issues. Topics discussed were around Vehicle related crime: Parking, Theft from and Theft of Motor Vehicles and upcoming operations. VAWG: ongoing projects and events in the area, ASB/ Under 25 violence: key hot spots, outcomes with nominals, Business and residential support being offered, utilising other departments to support and their results. Community Safety; Considerations for a BID for Yew Tree and Swan Centre, PSPO at the Yew Tree, Referrals and drop-in sessions, Community hubs, more Residential meetings and supporting the Street Cohort. Business Watch: every 2-month meetings for main key areas, setting up a sharing information agreement, tacking ASB and Shop theft and those that are handling of stolen goods. Building Trust and Confidence: We can’t do this without you; The police are the public, and the public are the police. Your information, knowledge is key to us and informs direction. We have been able to seize more vehicles linked to no tax or being stolen. We are aware residents concerns around Berkeley Road and Berkeley Road east and we are now monitoring this with dumped vehicles. This also includes around Manor Farm Road and Business and surrounding roads, including Clements Road and Barn Meadow. In addition, 16 fines were issued to vehicles incorrectly parked! We are continuing this again and served another 12 so far this week. Empowered Steps went ahead and we had another local resident join us, talking about the concerns ongoing in the area. This was helpful in understand their problems they are facing and their neighbours. We would like more to join us on this walk and share your concerns, this can be focused on challenges as a woman or where you live. The next one is scheduled for 26th March at 1200 at Oaklands Recreational. We have had a meeting with Lidl regarding their concerns and issues they are facing daily with shop theft and other issues. PC DODD (DNO) was able to offer support and advice around this and assist with any primary investigation work that was required. We will continue to support all businesses in the area, with our Business Watch and utilise meetings and sharing the information between all partners. As a result, of support another business 1 suspect was arrested and charged with 22 offences! Which is an amazing result for area. Support has been requested for those involved in committing theft to fund any substance misuse. We have more operations taking place in the area in the coming months; this will assist with clamping down on vehicle crime and other related crimes.
